Sharing the Shakeology Story


To say Traci Morrow knows a thing or two about the benefits of Shakeology® is an understatement. After all, as a founding Team Beachbody Coach, she’s been around since it was born! This shake-savvy veteran is here to talk approaches and the secrets behind her winning Shakeology sales strategies. Hear how she gets her new customers and Coaches to drink it every day—and how she gets them engaged right from the start.

Q. What approaches do you use to get new customers and Coaches to drink Shakeology?
A. It may sound simple, but I tell people to drink Shakeology® every single day. I set them up to drink it for one meal per day to receive the cumulative effect of all those powerful nutrients. Lastly, I tell them I enjoy drinking Shakeology at either breakfast or lunch and find that usually works very well for them, too.

Q. How do you keep your own taste buds engaged? 
A. Fat-free milk, ice, half a frozen banana, plus a scoop of Shakeology are my go-to ingredients. Now and again, I’ll add some frozen fruits or a splash of orange juice. And if I don’t drink it for even a couple days, I notice a serious lack of energy. I wonder why I’m so tired, but then it hits me: I’ve been on the go so much I’ve forgotten my shake!

Q. What’s your one-minute Shakeology pitch?
A. I tell people that Shakeology is a nutrient-dense shake with 70 vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that will give them lots of energy and help aid in weight loss. I also say that if they’re a terrible multivitamin taker like me, it’s the tastiest and easiest way to get what they need into their body. The fact that it’s delicious is just an added bonus! I finish by telling them to visit my website if they want more information.

Q. How do you sell the ‘total package’ benefits?
A. First, I put my Coaches into a private Facebook group for accountability. Next, I explain that drinking Shakeology is a comprehensive approach to getting healthy and fit along with the workout program of their choice and a personalized menu plan to take away the guess work. I wrap it up by saying that Shakeology helps you lose weight, but feels like a “cheat meal.”      

Q. What do you say to reinforce the benefits of drinking it daily?
A.  I make it all about results. I tell my customer they need to drink Shakeology every day to experience the benefits for themselves. So they begin drinking it with the mindset that they will look and feel great if they make it a daily habit. So much of continuity is seeing the value right from the start.

Q. How do you justify the cost?
A. I give my kids a shake before or after school. This actually saves money compared to polishing off a $4 bag of chips, pretzels and soda like their friends do. Not only are these greasy snacks bad for their bodies—they’re bad for their complexion, too. And we all know that teenagers don’t want acne! Do my kids sometimes eat junk food that I wish they wouldn’t? Sure they do. But at least I know that with Shakeology, good, healthy building blocks are getting in there as well.

Q. What approaches do you use if a customer says they might cancel their HD order?
A. Most of my customers don’t cancel once they experience how this shake makes them feel. But if they do, I first ask for the reason. If it’s because they lost their job, I won’t tell them how to run their finances. However, if they cancel because they have too much product and don’t want another shipment, I simply suggest they call the number on their receipt and have them hold it for a month.

Seay Stanford got a lot of funny looks when she decided to leave her 6-figure job in the pharmaceutical industry. Now a 5 Star Diamond Coach, Seay works to prevent disease rather than treat it. Her favorite product to help others? Nutrient-loaded Shakeology! Hear how Seay leverages the nutritional benefits of Shakeology to bolster her ever-growing business.

Seay’s crowning glory as a Coach is her die-hard dedication to teaching others about nutrition. This is in contrast to the more traditional focus of Coaches—the fitness programs and physical transformations. In fact, she built her business solely on Shakeology, not even selling a single fitness program for the first 6 months of her successful Beachbody career!

“My angle is about feeling better, not just looking better. It’s a harder niche because you can’t always capture the change in someone’s health with numbers or before/after photos. Granted, the physical transformation will happen when you feed your body the right stuff, but the benefits of being healthy have a lot more to do with just looking good in a bikini,” she says.

Everybody Needs Health
Seay notes that one of the greatest aspects of Shakeology is that it’s a flexible and adaptable product suitable for all ages, shapes, and weight brackets.

“Everybody needs health. Not everybody needs to lose weight,” she enlightens. “If you position Shakeology just as a weight loss product, where are you going to go from there?  You’re eliminating so much of your demographic!”

Seay doesn’t just sell to the mom or the dad in the family. Rather, she helps her clients understand the importance of getting the whole family invested in the awesome, nutritional benefits of Shakeology. She advises her Team to take into account the client whose elderly mother drinks Ensure every day or whose child is drinking PediSure and how this client can greatly improve the health of their family by replacing these chemical cocktails with Shakeology. 

Bait the Shake
Seay acknowledges that getting others excited about a product they’ve never heard of can be tricky—especially if you’re using foreign terms to describe the product.

“I used to focus on the ‘superfood’ aspect of Shakeology, and I think sometimes it can lose people,” she says. Instead, Seay encourages her Coaches to interact on a more personal level with their clients. She recommends asking about their family’s medical history and the health issues they’re treating with medication. This makes it easier to tailor her pitch.

“It’s easy to breakdown the benefits of Shakeology. Just go through the symptoms of not having good nutrition with your clients and explain that Shakeology will provide it,” she advises. “for example, if they have digestive issues, teach them the importance of probiotics. Shakeology has it all—we just have to make it relatable to that specific consumer.”

Sampling Strategies
Seay doesn’t sample Shakeology.  She sells packets.

Seay teaches that if people see the value in a product, they have no problem paying for it. “You won’t set the stage for value if you give your product away for free,” she says.

She continues, “Coaches should reward their clients for making more of a commitment to the product. If you sell your customer a packet for $5, you encourage them to sign up for HD because they get a discount for buying a volume of 30. After they sign up for HD, you encourage them to become a Coach so they get an even larger discount. It’s how you’ll grow your business!”  

Saving Lives
Following her calling through her career choice, Seay hopes to encourage more Coaches to embrace the nutritional benefits of Shakeology and become advocates of disease prevention and health. “Try focusing a little less on the physical transformation and a little more on the internal transformation,” she advises. “Encourage people to be healthy, not just thin.”

Health continues to be the focus of Seay’s mission, and as a result, she couldn’t be happier being a Beachbody Coach. “When I help someone drastically improve their health, I feel like I’m truly doing what I’ve been put on this earth to do. As Coaches, we save people’s lives by giving them their quality of life back,” she says.

“Besides, the movement to ‘End the Trend’ needs all the help it can get. We’ve got a big ugly ship to turn around.”

Coach’s Playbook:

  • Expand your demographic to include people of all weights, ages, and medical needs—not just people who want to lose weight.  Remember: Everybody needs health.  Not everybody needs to lose weight!
  • Tailor your Shakeology pitch to the individual consumer.  They’ll be more likely to buy if they feel the product applies to them on a personal level.
  • Encourage your customers to make a commitment to the product by selling sample packets.  Discounts are your leverage!

5 Places to Meet New Customers (Winter Edition)


Winter is officially upon us. But, just because the temperature is cooling off doesn’t mean your business has to. In fact, with a little bit of strategizing, it can be your most lucrative time of the year. Get a head start on the holidays with our list of five places to meet new customers.

You’ve got an arsenal of the top-selling home fitness programs in the country. A proven business model that really works. A support system like no other. But the simple truth is; customers won’t find you. You have to get out there and find them.

Remember, potential customers are all around you. Especially during the holidays. So use this list as a roadmap to make it a true season of success.

1) Take advantage of the airport
You won’t find a more crowded place during the holidays than an airport. And crowded means potential customers. The best part is that everyone there has something in common with you, and is probably a little bored to boot!

Make sure to allow yourself plenty of time, though. If you wait until the last minute, you’ll rush to your gate with no chance to meet anyone. Getting there early will allow you to take your time and talk a little T25™ at the terminal.

When you’re in flight, you have a built-in conversation starter about the city you’re headed to. So put those frequent flyer miles to good use—and take your business to new heights.

2) Party with a purpose
Holiday parties are much more than free food and drinks. They’re a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and make connections in a friendly, relaxed environment.

If you normally pass on holiday events, make this year different. Whether it’s a friend’s party, a work function, or a community gathering, make a point of going.

The best way to break the ice? Ask questions. Find out what someone’s fitness goals are and invite them to your next Challenge Group. Presto; new customers!

3) It’s all about the mall
From the food court to clothing stores, the mall is ripe with possibilities. It’s a fact; shopping equals success. The only difference is you’ll be shopping for new customers instead of clothes.

For a good conversation starter, compliment a fellow shopper on an item they picked out. Perhaps even joke that it can be hard to fit into clothes this time of year. Once you’ve established a connection, let them know how you’re keeping the weight off with the Beachbody program you’re doing. It’s sure to pique their curiosity.

4) Work wonders on your winter vacation
Wanna get away? You should if you want to grow your prospect list. Consider how many people you’ll come into contact with at the hotel, on the ski slopes, or just out enjoying the exciting nightlife!

Here’s a little tip to stack the odds in your favor: take walks over taxis. Just this simple step alone should put you in contact with exponentially more people. So stretch your legs, walk around, and maximize every moment of your vacation.

5) Give thanks for your health
It may sound simple, but it’s true: giving thanks for your health at Thanksgiving dinner can turn into a major opportunity. When you mention your awesome fitness results, you’ll be an instant source of inspiration to all the guests at the table.
